December 2020 New Year Card Contest
To mark the end of the year, the MCprep community participated in a contest to create the best New Years digital card! Originally announced here, there are three winners:
Winner: Kuco Enciso
The Santa waving, along with background looping elements like the fire and tree blinking, is the perfect example of what an animated card should look like! Plus it has a great overall production quality, with many assets from MCprep such as item spawning and meshswap.
Winner: Neo
Neo definitely had an original idea with this scene sequence. While in a way it feels less “card-like”, the entry makes up for it through originality, scene setup, and fun details like the slip and fall at the end.
Winner: Breadcrumb
This render looks great! A nice style comes through with clearly intentional colors, and nice lighting around the characters. Plus the text itself sells it as a card. I had to take a moment to decide if it was too inappropriate or not? But hey, it’s funny and quite memorable, great job.
November 2020 Render of the Month
This render has a great pose and expression, with nice clean modeling and details. The presentation is clear and straightforward, opting for a suiting neutral background. Nice work!
October 2020 Render of the Month
In addition to the contest below, October also marked the first ever Render of the Month highlight. Huge congrats to DigitalDan (Twitter) for his render! Great composition, and nice warm colors without being over saturated. The sun rays are a nice tough too, without being overbearing.
October 2020 Contest: Stuck Indoors
This was the first official MCprep contest! From the time the contest was announced, participants had 2 weeks to create either still renders or animations. The theme, quite appropriate for 2020, was “Stuck Indoors”. Congratulations to these winners!
