Stopmotion is where Moo-Ack! Productions really began, even before “TheDuckCow” name and logo was used. In 2009, Live Meet Stop became the first animation and video uploaded to Moo-Ack! Productions. Years later, I rebooted into the Stop Meets Live series, which has a higher production quality.

What is Stopmotion animation and Brickfilming?
Stopmotion is the general name for animation forms like Claymation or Brickfilming. At it’s essence is creating the illusion of life and movement to inanimate objects. As the name implies, this it accomplished by taking still pictures of a set and incrementally moving items between each shot. The animator then puts these images in a sequence which, when played fast enough and well animated, make the objects appear to move on their own.
Much like claymation is the version that uses moldable clay subjects, Brickfilming is the style which uses Lego or other brick-like structures. The Bricks In Motion forum is a whole community of animators in this field, with an impressive repertoire of films.

How do you create stopmotion animations?
What a great question! Of course there are many workflows, but recently I started to develop my own tools that fit my needs. I tend to use a combination of DSLR remote capture software and then either “standard” stopmotion software like iStopmotion, or simply some tools I have programmed myself (check this out).
